Vianden Hydroelectric Power Station
ENERGY PRODUCTION PROJECT
The Vianden hydroelectric power station is located on the Our river, in the canton of Vianden in northeastern Luxembourg, close to the German border.
It is the largest reservoir power plant in Europe.
It is a pumped-storage power station designed to generate electricity during peak periods.
It had 10 turbine groups with a capacity of 1,096MW.
The 2011 expansion project was designed to add an 11th turbine group, bringing the plant’s installed capacity to 1,296 MW.
Technical characteristics
SDCEM provided customized solutions with box disconnectors for reversible pumping and auxiliary circuits.
SDCEM also supplied intelligent, universal electrical controls to manage and secure the network.
