The Cardones-Polpaico project
TRANSMISSION & DISTRIBUTION PROJECT
The project aims to increase the transmission capacity of the Cardones-Polpaico high-voltage line, located 50 km from Santiago de Chile.
The 753 km Cardones-Polpaico transmission line project is divided into three sections:
-
Nueva Cardones – Nueva Maitencillo
-
Nueva Maitencillo – Nueva Pan de Azúcar
-
Nueva Pan de Azúcar – Polpaico
The line crosses Chile from north to south.
This transmission line is Chile’s largest energy infrastructure project of the last 50 years.
It uses a 500kV double-circuit line and a total of 1,728 towers.
It gives Chile a more efficient electricity market, with greater security of supply, greater sustainability and, above all, lower costs.
6 SBE 24Kv/2000A outdoor three-pole vertical disconnectors
2 SBE 24Kv/4000A outdoor single-pole vertical disconnectors
4 SBE 24Kv/8000A outdoor single-pole vertical disconnectors
Smart drive
In 2019, SDCEM proposed electrical switch and disconnector solutions combined with intelligent universal drives to meet the technical challenge of managing and securing networks.
