Galloper offshore wind farm
TRANSMISSION & DISTRIBUTION PROJECT
Galloper Wind Farm is an offshore wind farm located 27 km off the Suffolk coast (UK).
The wind farm comprises an offshore substation and an onshore substation located on Sizewell beach.
Two submarine export cables buried at a depth of around 45km each carry the energy generated by the offshore wind farm to the onshore substation connected to the national grid.
The wind farm, operational since March 2018, is one of the largest offshore wind farms in British waters, generating enough energy to power up to 380,700 homes with its 56 turbines producing up to 353 MW.
Technical specifications :
SDCEM supplied high-current disconnectors with intelligent, universal electrical controls to meet the technical challenges of operating in an extremely salty and corrosive environment.
Salt sprays were applied to the disconnectors during laboratory tests to optimize SDCEM equipment and ensure its resistance to corrosion.
SDCEM has also supplied intelligent solutions for the network: the S-TORQUE torque control system for monitoring the status of disconnectors, enabling optimized maintenance and improved safety.
