Foz Tua hydroelectric power plant
ENERGY PRODUCTION PROJECT

The Foz Tua hydroelectric power plant is located on the Tua River in Alijó, Portugal.
It is one of the priority projects in the national program of dams with high hydroelectric potential.

This pumping station, built on the Tua River, a tributary of the Douro River in northern Portugal, pumps water from the Régua reservoir to the Tua dam.
It will make a major contribution to the growing importance of electrical energy storage.

The Foz Tua hydroelectric power plant project involves the construction of two reversible units generating 259 MW, with an annual output of 275 GWh.
The operator is Energias de Portugal (EDP), Portugal’s largest industrial group and one of Europe’s leading energy companies.
