Gouvães hydroelectric power plant
PROJECT ENERGY PRODUCTION

The Gouvães hydroelectric power station will be the heart of one of Europe’s largest hydroelectric projects: Alto Támega, comprising three hydroelectric power stations (Alto Tâmega, Daivões and Gouvães).

The complex is located in a vast area within the Trás-os-Montes region, in the Tâmega river basin in northern Portugal, close to the seaport of Porto.

Gouvães has four 220 MW reversible turbine groups, with a total capacity of 880 MWh.
The plant will cover peak power requirements and provide fast-response regulating power.

In total, the three power plants will generate 1,766 GWh of electricity.
