Modernization of the Corridor IV Frontieră - Curtici - Simeria line
RAIL ELECTRIFICATION PROJECT
The project to modernize the rail-road corridor stretches from the town of Curtici, along the Romanian-Hungarian border, to the Black Sea city of Constanta.
The main focus of the upgrade was to significantly increase the maximum speed to 160 km/h and improve safety on the Curtici and Simeria section.
The upgrade also included the optimization of signaling and passenger information systems, as well as the construction of adjacent infrastructure (123 km of track, 47 bridges, 8 viaducts, 1 659 m tunnel, 19 stations, 5 depots).
The main aim is to strengthen territorial cohesion and economic competitiveness in Romania with Hungary and the rest of Europe.
The sections and sub-sections concerned in Romania are as follows:
- Section 2: Km 614 – Gurasada

- Sub-section 2B: Cap Y Bârzava-Cap Y Ilteu
- Section 3: Gurasada-Simeri
Cechnical specifications
For sections 2A, 2B and 3, SDCEM supplied SIEMENS SRL with switches and fuse-holders managed by intelligent, universal electrical controls to manage and secure the network.
